Intercity Buses

Intercity buses provide Maine with important local, national, and international transportation links.

Concord Trailways, Vermont Transit, and SMT/Acadian Lines offer fast bus service to New Hampshire, Massachusetts and Eastern Canada. Cyr Bus Lines offers daily service between Bangor and Aroostook County. West Transportation connects Bangor and Calais, and the Shuttle Bus provides service between Biddeford and Portland.


Concord Trailways
These buses provide daily service to and from Boston’s South Station and Logan Airport and 12 Maine communities, including Portland, Brunswick, Bangor, Orono and a number of coastal towns. Concord Trailways is conveniently located at the Portland Transportation Center, where train, shuttle bus and other connections are available.

Provides daily service between Bangor and Limestone (Penobscot to Aroostook Counties)

Greyhound/Vermont Transit
This line provides daily service from Bar Harbor (seasonal), Bangor, Waterville, Augusta, Lewiston, Brunswick, Portland and Wells to Boston’s South Station with direct thru service to and from New York City.

Inter-city service between Biddeford and Portland, via Old Orchard Beach, Scarborough and the Maine Mall (South Portland).

SMT/Acadian Lines

The Acadian Lines group (Acadian Lines and SMT) provides inter-city passenger service 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The two bus lines service 78 destinations throughout the Maritimes with stops in Northern Maine. If you want to travel further, or return from afar, you can count on connecting services outside the Maritimes to major cities such as Montreal, Toronto and other points all across Canada.

West Transportation provides intercity service between Calais and the City of Bangor.

Park & Ride. MDOT and the Maine Turnpike Authority maintain Park and Ride parking lots where travelers leave their vehicles, and where commuters can connect with car and vanpools.
