Anacortes, Washington to Bar Harbor, Maine

Maine Section Distance: 224 miles

Adventure Cycling’s Northern Tier route begins in Anacortes, Washington and traverses 13 states before ending in Bar Harbor, Maine. The Maine section of the route takes cyclists on a 224 mile ride from Fryeburg through lakes, mountains, forests, and farms across rural southwest Maine and then follows the coast to historic Bar Harbor. Along the way, the route traverses Maine’s Lakes & Mountains, Mid-Coast, and Downeast & Acadia regions. Fryeburg, Maine is a gateway to the White Mountains. The route explores the scenic towns of Bridgton and Naples located on the shores of Long Lake, an eight mile body of water just north of Sebago Lake. The route skirts the southern edge of Lewiston/Auburn and then follows the Androscoggin River to Brunswick where it joins the Adventure Cycling Atlantic Coast route and continues east to Bar Harbor.
