Distance: 21, 33, 42 and 59-mile loops
This pleasant 59-mile ride takes cyclists from the State Capitol to the scenic lakes region west of Augusta that includes the towns of Hallowell, Manchester, Litchfield, Tacoma, Winthrop and Monmouth. This region provides scenic views of Cobbosseecontee (Cobbossee) Lake, rolling farmland, apple orchards and the Kennebec River.
Shorter options include Alternate 1 at 21 miles, which includes Cobosseecontee Lake and Historic Hallowell, Alternate 2 at 33 miles, which also includes Woodbury Pond, and Alternate 3 at 42 miles.
